in the short term, he will get great benefit for fundraising, millions in free media publicity drawn away from primary opponents, and definitely monetization of upcoming mugshot t-shirts with plenty of american flag\guns themes.

unfortunate that it took this petty crime to be first, rather than past\current attempts at serious accountability. the DA probably tanked his career, if not worse, to get the ball rolling. (item 3 below)
