Maybe to register to vote, you have to surrender all firearms (and not buy any new ones). What do you think that would do to the voting landscape? Dems would win all elections every time, since Reps are gun owners by better than 2:1 (about 45% to 20%)

Yeah, we're not doing more gun control because of this. What needs to happen is that the left wing needs to check its crazies. Based on what I'm seeing democrat pols say and from what I'm reading on this board, the opposite is happening.

If anything all this is demonstrating it's that the right wing in this country is a) remarkably tolerant and b) showing incredible restraint. Had some right winger done this to a left wing politician there would be a very different "national conversation" taking place. What we're getting now is a lot of left wingers claiming Trump staged the whole thing and a lot of democrats claiming they never said anything inflammatory.
