...and I had a close up view of the rust eaten girders holding that bridge up.

Some years ago, the city of Windsor was complaining, loudly, about the chunks of steel and concrete that were falling off the bridge, onto streets and private property on the Canadian side.

Matty's logic for opposing the Howe was laffable. He insisted the Howe was redundant, because there is already a bridge at Detroit. Then Matty was asked "so, why are you so hot to build a new bridge?". Answer was "because the Ambassador is 80 years old". When the "Gateway" project was built, to connect the Ambassador to I-75, decades after 75 was built, the US side was built to align with a new bridge that Matty wanted to build next to the old one, so drivers need to negotiate an S curve on the US side, to get from the new approach, to the old bridge. Matty bought up a bunch of houses on the Windsor side, tore them down, and built a ramp to connect to his proposed bridge there too.
