Since we're on the subject of mRNA vaccines, I have a naïve question about them. The mRNA enters a person's cells' cytoplasm (not the nucleus!) and is used there to create the viral spike proteins that are then "expressed" on the cells' surfaces where they trigger the immune system to create antibodies to combat the foreign proteins. So does that mean that the cells that expressed the spike protein are seen as the virus and attacked and killed? My first thought is that this might be bad, but perhaps it's just the collateral damage needed to gain protection and the effect is limited to simply feeling under the weather for a day or two as many people (but not all) do after getting an mRNA vaccine.
