onepoorguy: And, from what I've read, Coke's statement is not true. HFCS metabolizes differently in our bodies. It's a form of sugar, but not table sugar (sucrose), and apparently shocks the pancreas.

HFCS is 55% fructose and 45% glucose, while sucrose is 50% fructose and 50% glucose.

The literature suggests that HFCS is associated with a higher level of CRP compared to sucrose, and that little differences exist in other anthropometric and metabolic parameters.

Best to avoid soft drinks altogether or have them once in a blue moon (just read an article that disclosed soft drink and other beverage cans are lined with a polymer coating that release loads of microplastics). Unfortunately, bottles do too.

Sorry.
