In a strange request, Trump asked that the debt ceiling be raised as part of the budget deal. This seemed counter intuitive, but it appears the (D) house members figured it out. Trump plans for massive tax cuts and the debt ceiling change would enable that.

Plus, and this is just so good for America, leaving the debt ceiling alone now sets up another "sky is falling" opportunity in 2025 to raise the debt ceiling with another predictable load of pork packed into the resulting must pass legislation.
