This one is funny in a weird way.

I've read that Chauvin plead guilty to the federal crimes because the federal sentence takes precedence over the state's sentence. So he did it to go to federal prison which gives him a better quality of life while he is serving his time. If he would accept the pardon, he would not be freed; he would be transferred to the state prison to serve the term of his state sentence there.
