They were very damaging. And pointless, as any student of history would know (i.e. we tried this before, and it didn't work then, either).

But last week I thought most/all of the tariffs were lifted because he didn't have the authority to levy them.

Having ruled that Trump’s worldwide tariffs are illegal, the court deemed his “trafficking tariffs” imposed on Canada and Mexico also lawless.

So there shouldn't be any tariffs anymore.
