He has openly said he wants to loot all Federal land of resources. Why would we expect different from him, now that he is in office?

from the net sifter:

During his 2025 administration, Donald Trump's policy for developing natural resources on federal land focuses on rapidly expanding drilling, mining, and logging by overturning environmental protections implemented by previous administrations

. These actions are part of his "American Energy Dominance" agenda, and they have been met with legal challenges and criticism from environmental groups.

Policies and actions

Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR): The administration has finalized plans to open the entire coastal plain of the refuge—1.56 million acres—to oil and gas leasing. This reverses a 2021 action by the Biden administration that had suspended and canceled leases in the protected wilderness area.

Expansion in Alaska: Beyond ANWR, the administration has authorized other resource development projects in Alaska, including: Reissuing right-of-way permits for the Ambler Access Road, a 211-mile route that will open access to a mining district rich in copper, cobalt, and other minerals.

Approving a road through the Izembek National Wildlife Refuge.

Repeal of the Public Lands Rule: The Department of the Interior has moved to repeal the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) 2024 Public Lands Rule, which had placed conservation on equal footing with resource extraction. Opponents say this change prioritizes extractive industries over environmental conservation.

Because, when you're 79 years old, you don't care about the long term. You only care about what puts the most loot in your pocket now.
