Well, it wasn't an insurrection. A proper insurrection would likely involve firearms.Likely?
I haven't looked lately but in January 2021 least 13 people were hit with illegal gun possession charges stemming from the insurrection. Dozens more wielded knives, stun guns, pepper spray, baseball bats, and flagpoles wielded as clubs and other real and makeshift weapons. A couple of pipe bombs too.
And here's the dictionary meaning of INSURRECTION: an act or instance of revolting against civil authority or an established government.
No guns required.

The election was NOT done yet, and therefore couldn't be "overturned". Yeah, it was done.
Additional key dates for the presidential election: Under 3 U.S.C. § 5, a state must settle any presidential election disputes and determine its electors six days before the Electoral College meets. This safe harbor provision deadline fell on December 8, 2020. The Electoral College cast its votes for president and vice president on December 14, 2020.https://ballotpedia.org/Election_results_certifica...BrerBear:
After Pelosi** road blocked Trump's suggestion of National Guard to maintain order for the day, has anyone looked into Pelosi's meeting where she said "we want to keep troops away and see if these mobs can be incited to do something crazy"? "It will be a sight to behold".Laughable nonsense.
AP:
CLAIM: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi blocked the National Guard from coming to the Capitol during the Jan. 6 insurrection.
AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. As Speaker of the House, Pelosi does not direct the National Guard. Further, as the Capitol came under attack, she and the Senate Majority leader called for military assistance, including the National Guard.

CLAIM: Former President Donald Trump signed an order to deploy 20,000 National Guard troops before his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, but was stopped by the House sergeant at arms, at the behest of Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. While Trump was involved in discussions in the days prior to Jan. 6 about the National Guard response, he issued no such order before or during the rioting. Speaker Pelosi does not control National Guard troops.
