Here's that question:
"Charging is very convenient - just plug it in when you get home..."
What about the long road trips with kids? In the U.S. some of us travel long distances. After 4 hours of driving the three kiddos in the back, all under the age of 10 and strapped in their car seats, are getting restless. You pull in to the only Tesla charging station you can find in an unfamiliar town. It is 20 deg F (-7 C) outside. You tell the children to sit quietly, while going nowhere for 20 minutes. The charging station is in a sketchy part of town and you can't wait to get the h*ll out of there.
Tesla stations and other fast charger stations are not just plopped down in a sketchy part of town with no amenities. They are put in places like a strip mall, regular mall or maybe just a Burger King parking lot, but there is always something there.
After 4 hours in the car, presumably the kids and everyone else in the car is ready to stretch their legs, use the bathroom and get something to eat? Presumably if you are traveling in the depths of winter then you've brought winter clothes? While your car is charging 20 minutes, you walk over to use the bathroom and to have a meal. Usually I like to get some steps in, but if the weather is vicious, then I'd just linger over my snack or walk and browse in a store. Twenty minutes generally passes rather quickly in this kind of scenario.
It's getting to where you don't have to painstakingly plan out a route around chargers like you used to, they are so widespread, unless you're getting and staying far off the beaten path.
