After 4 hours in the car, presumably the kids and everyone else in the car is ready to stretch their legs, use the bathroom and get something to eat? Presumably if you are traveling in the depths of winter then you've brought winter clothes? While your car is charging 20 minutes, you walk over to use the bathroom and to have a meal.
After you have waited for the 3 or 4 cars waiting in line for a charger ahead of you. Two hours waiting in line then 20 minutes for your charge.
Telsa people are ignorant of queueing theory. The only reason it is not a problem yet is because there are not that many Teslas (in percentage terms) in the area. Again, queueing theory.
"While official state registries do not publish a real-time count for every single car actively driven on Los Angeles roads, data-driven estimates indicate that Teslas make up roughly 2% to 3% of the total accumulated vehicle fleet in Los Angeles County."
No problem, just put 40 chargers next to the 50 gas pumps. Then figure out how to get that much electricity to a station 100 miles from nowhere.
