Dopey:It's amazing to me how ingrained the notion that having an illegal workforce is somehow something we just have to accept.

Who is this 'we' you keep mentioning?

Ever since the labor streamed north to work the fields while our boys were off killing Nazis, the big ag employers have fought the establishment of regulations wrt immigrants.

Why? Because a regulation is a 2 way street and the big employers can't screw labor like they can in the absence of regulations and unions.
