You seem to be arguing for the legacy system run by for-profit entities.
Not arguing for it, no. I'm not making a "should" argument at all. Just pointing out that this guy misunderstands who is supporting who in his scenario. He seems to believe that he's somehow a "sucker" who's paying for other people's health care, when instead he's almost certainly just having to face the true costs of insuring himself: an older person already on expensive medications. The government decided to stop subsidizing the younger healthier people who were previously contribution to his lower premium costs, not the other way around. I'm not arguing for that decision, just that this guy doesn't accurately understand who the beneficiary of it was....
