The surprise to me is the massive amount of chicken shittery we're seeing from leader after leader, in the DoD, in State, in the intelligence apparatus, in who knows how many other places, as they won't stand up and say, emphatically and in unison, that this is a bad idea.
Anyone who has listened to a few Senate confirmation hearings shouldn’t be surprised that the Cabinet leadership is full of boot lickers. And I’ve mentioned that military leadership has been hollowed out and purged of anyone who might stand up to the civilian leadership.
I have no doubt that most of the career folks are still doing their jobs and reporting good info up the chain. But at the highest levels, that info is ignored because the [mob] boss doesn’t want to hear it or it doesn’t fit the boss’ desired narrative.
