g0177325: All it would take is one call from Trump or Rubio to Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele to return him on the next flight or else the 6 million they are giving him would be revoked. Why the hell don't just they end this lunacy and get him back?

Well, first, SCOTUS issued a vague guideline and remanded to the lower court to interpret it. “The District Court should clarify its directive, with due regard for the deference owed to the Executive Branch in the conduct of foreign affairs.” This has allowed the government to hem and haw.

Second, the Trump DOJ doesn't want to admit they have the ability to return these people. They want the absolute power to deport anyone.

Third, if the Trump DOJ brought Abrego-Garcia back, the media would never stop interviewing him about conditions in the El Salvadoran hellhole which, for most Americans, would be attitude-changing.

Finally, there's a very slight possibility he's dead.
