When Orange Jesus was babbling that the Continental Army "took over the airports" more than a century before the first airplane, republicans didn't blink an eye let alone demand he take a cognitive test or drop out of politics. In the media, the story moved through the news cycle faster than sh!t through a goose.
Same for the draft dodging Orange Jesus calling American war dead suckers and losers -- and that it looked bad for him to be seen with severely wounded veterans -- certainly the kinds of statements that should have ended his political career but republicans shrugged it off, never said a word, and the media quickly took the spotlight off his outrageous statements.
