Look, we’re on the same side. I was a professional organizer for 15 years. I built an organization of 3,000 members from scratch. Our 3 chapters met weekly. We changed policies and advanced justice in a deeply impoverished and marginalized community.

Protests and donating to causes are good things to do, and I do them all the time. But, again, unless they are part of a feasible strategy to achieve a specific objective, they’re expressive not instrumental.

Strategy necessary entails considering “ifs”. Strategy is how we turn what we have into what we need to get what we want.
