I looked at my PC and saw Gemini, Perplexity/Comet, Chat 5.0, POE, Luma and Claude

Life is too short to run questions past all of them, yet clearly, they frequently give differing answers - some of which are wildly incorrect (assuming you know enough about the topic to recognize their hallucination).

Each would like to be YOUR assistant, but the suspicion is that each has its owner's vested interests at heart.

Ignore them all until they can prove they are competent to rationally understand a question AND provide sensible responses. Hallucinating means they failed.

I keep hearing that programmers are now out of a job.

I've asked Perplexity two PLC programming questions. It had very confident, and very wrong answers both times. Not impressed.

Jeff,

There is a type of marketing I do to sell my prints that has several ins and outs to it.

Where the marketing tire hits the road, my input becomes very repetitive. I use AI to form the lists involved.

I will not detail my response. It is a very valuable practice. I can not give it away.

Could I do it without AI? No, because how to form the list depends on a service that uses AI to form answers to my questions. How I form my lists is a heavy lift without AI.

Is it art? Not at all. It is specialized clerical work.

The AI I use is a specialized service. I only needed to pay for the app for two months. The job over, I dumped the app. They made $16 off me.

This is about internet costs, not AI.

Recently, I bought a video game asset. I had a generic asset that came with a pawn asset. I needed something cutting-edge. The generic assets in this category were $40 to $150. I needed something no one else needed. I paid $5 for, cutting-edge asset. No demand for it.

I use Gemini for the kind of questions I would normally source from Google. Simple facts.

I use Perplexity for medical-type questions because it has links to original research which I can read and evaluate.

I use ChatGPT for shopping because it has good comparisons.

Honestly, I don't know which AI I use. Whatever comes up on Chrome, I guess.

As to for what, I am finding more uses for it than I thought I would.

Real estate searches on a particular property, to come up with the links to search for things like crime stats, flood history, anything imaginable. Often it can't give me answers to my questions, but provides links that can.

Shopping around for services like hair cuts or home inspectors. Typed in something along the lines of "good hairdresser in *** that does thick curly hair," took me through all the reviews for the city of my choice and spit out a couple of names, along with the links to those reviews, should I care to look at them myself. I did. Best haircut ever. For the home inspector I searched for "best home inspector specializing in new construction" for where I was looking at buying. (Fell through.) Same result as hairdresser search, making my search so much easier by giving a summary of the reviews and then also providing the links.

Travel. What to see on the drive between Montreal and Quebec City provided the route they felt was prettiest and had the most to see. Was different from the route Maps provided and well worth it.

Eldest is in cyber security and I asked him if he was concerned about AI and his job. He said that he put one of the AIs through it's paces, on some sort of setting that is supposed to keep it from using the information to learn, and it gave a bad answer. He spent the time convincing the AI that it was wrong and he was right. (I guess that's a better use of time than video games.) While AI may do some of the basic grunt work in cyber security, he does not feel his job is at risk yet, but if you eliminate the lower entry positions whose work might be handled by AI, how do you build rising experience in your workforce?
