There is a working theory that the brutality of ICE and Border Patrol agents is intentional, as part of the show.
Since his first campaign, in 2016, Trump has endorsed and encouraged violence. I remember video of one of his campaign rallies in 16, which was disrupted by a handful of demonstrators. As the demonstrators were escorted out by security, Trump suggested his followers "rough them up". He offered to pay the legal bills of people charged with assault for fights defending him. As we know, during his first term, he suggested demonstrators and people crossing the border illegally be shot.
As suggested here, the majority of his followers are not put off by his policies that enrich the rich, at their expense, and his program to start wars around the hemisphere, as long as they see brown people and liberals being beat up on TV. As his other policies are increasingly controversial and hurt his base more, expect the violence against brown people and liberals to increase, just as his deportation target has increased from 20M, to 53M, and now 100M. I would not be surprised to see a reenactment of Kristallnacht, as thousands of ICE agents sweep immigrant/minority dense neighborhoods, smashing, looting, and burning, to "motivate people to self-deport".
