Addressing reporters today, senator Tom Cotton said with respect to the second strike killing two survivors clinging to a capsized boat, "I saw two survivors trying to flip a boat -- loaded with drugs, bound for the United States -- back over, so they could stay in the fight." He said the stirkes were "righteous strikes" and "entirely lawful."
Umm.
First, that boat was about 1,500 miles the the United States. Those two were trying to survive and there's no way that boat was going to get anywhere near the United States.
Second, the use of the word "righteous" is Christian nationalism and we should recognize it as such.
Third, eventually the video will come out and Cotton will be forever known as one of those in Congress who celebrated the murder of two shipwrecked individuals (or war crimes, except there's no war).
Fourth, Cotton confirmed that the United States chose to kill those two men in a second strike. There was no fog of war or miscommunication.
Fifth, we have become the bad guys.
Release the video.
