My niece just took the Federal buyout.

I just took the plunge too. I was gonna work another 2 years but figured I was likely to get RIF'd (reduction in force, aka fired) in the next couple of months, being a Chief of Staff in an administrative support unit that is "supposedly" a waste of money.

They gave us a stupid, second, generous offer to leave, and who was I to refuse a final bite at the apple? They lost a highly effective, efficient government worker who gave a damn (hundreds of such workers, actually) who had been serving their nation by protecting animal health and the livelihoods of our country's farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers. Good job, DOGE! #Sarcasm.

Last Tuesday was my final workday. I'm out.
