Great post !
I remember reading about the Cuyahoga River in Ohio being on fire, the chemical waste that had
been dumped into it ( and other urban watersheds across the country ) had ignited. As a kid, it blew my mind that water could burn.
In the recent past ( 2020 ), in Michigan, a privatized dam on the Tittabawassee River in Sanford Michigan failed, causing massive flood damage downstream in much larger Midland, Michigan.
There are other small dams in the State that are feared to be in a similar condition.
The private owner of the Sanford dam pretty much instantly filed for BK after the collapse, leaving the citizens on the hook for the rebuild. Many of these citizens have cried out for
taxpayer assistance, their homes on Sanford Lake have plummeted in value. This is a rural,
conservative area that is surely "small government" minded, at least until catastrophe
hit them.
The people that want to tear down America and rebuild into Trump's vision are nuts.
As soon as disaster hits them, they beg for tax dollars to make them whole.
Crazy hypocritical.
