I'm wondering what this will do to Reps' races this fall, and in two years. The Felon won in part because he said no more foreign entanglements, and then has proceeded to do multiple entanglements. And this latest one, as you say, is likely to become a quagmire. So Reps may want to distance themselves, but at the same time, they have MAGA to deal with.
Maybe this will compensate somewhat for Dems shooting themselves, like the CA elections (where Dems are splitting the votes so much that Reps actually have a shot at some seat there).
