The week's question
In March 2025, in the thread "Re: OT, out", Umm asked the members: "Do you think it is because America is made up of magical soil that makes businesses based in America magically profitable?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

Imagine when Joe Biden was president if he buddied up with a foreign born citizen with close ties to China and a long history of doing stuff for Chinese leadership and Biden gave the keys to the kingdom to this person and let them run roughshod into any department they wanted to and do whatever they want to?

Republicans would be up in arms. I am not even just talking about the blind dumbly partisan Republicans like Jim Jordan who get offended at anything a Democrat does. No. I am talking about even the Republicans who actually cared about national security. Like Mitch McConnell or Lindsey Graham. Republicans who would still be partisan but were genuinely concerned about national security.

Rightly so, Biden doing this would be a real threat to national security. Anyone person who actually cares about the national security of the U.S. should be alarmed.

The fact that Trump is the one who is doing this and so far there hasn't been a peep from these Republicans says a lot about just where their priorities are. They are more concerned about their jobs then they are about national security. Of course, the fact that these people approved Peter Hegseth for Sec of Defense probably should have already told me this.
