NYT today:False Narrative: On the fifth anniversary of the pro-Trump mob attack on the Capitol, the Trump administration created a new page on the official White House site blaming the Capitol Police and Democrats, absolving the president of responsibility and calling participants “innocent.”
Enough of the "False narrative" description, for crissakes.
"False narrative" joins my shitlist of misused, overused and pansyassed copout terms along with 'literally' and 'iconic'.
Brings to mind the conversation I had in early 2017 with 2 friends retired from the editorial depts of WAPO and USA Today. I asked them why the editorial depts don't just call Trump's lies, lies. As expected, they said the ed depts had to stay civil.
We're in a world of shit when and AI video of Trump bombing Americans with a load of excrement doesn't warrant the succinct descriptor 'lies'.
