You're describing 2016. I knew what he was within 10 minutes of him opening his mouth. But the vote was divided, and like the NAZI party in 1932, they were able to take over with only 32% of the vote (and too many factions within the Bundestag). Then he was defeated in 2020, and somehow managed to get in 2024 (even though he was a known horrible quantity). I agree with your assessment of 2016, but that doesn't excuse 2024. Were I a Rep, I would have voted Haley (even though I think she's odious). She is at least competent, unlike the Felon. But, of course, she's a woman. I very much doubt a woman will ever win the Republican nomination, their place being in the home and all.
