I'm not usually one for medical dramas. Never watched Grey's Anatomy, or St Elsewhere, or a myriad of other similar shows. But I like this one. And it's for lines like I'm going to set up for you now.
A guy came in unresponsive. After they figured out what was wrong, and he was coming out of it, he said something like the following:
You rush around thinking everything is so important, and then you end up here.
Kinda resonated for me because 1poorlady and I had some serious health scares 6 years ago. When you confront your mortality, suddenly all the other crap in life seems trivial. Because it really is. I don't know if people have to come face to face with that to realize it, or if they can somehow process it by just being told. I know for me, I always knew that one day I'm going to end. But I think I always thought "that's a long way off". But you really don't know. One scan that shows a mass can really change your perspective (in my case...not the guy in the the show). Scared the excrement out of me because in my mind it wasn't time (I was 50-something). Maybe it wouldn't have made any difference if I was 90-something, but I honestly didn't expect to last to 90 anyway. Maybe not as scary if you're expecting it?
Anyway...I thought it was a gem of a line. Good stuff.
