Yep. One wonders.....what industries and what geographies in America peddle such in pop culture - -- maybe that's a good question to discuss.

Either way, you are speaking my language from before. For 20+ years on TMF I used to argue that Repub, Dem, put it aside if only for having some semblance of common culture, some semblance of common civics, some knowledge about American history.....DON'T SENY SLAVERY, DAMN WELL TEACH THAT and segregation, and learn from it. BUT don't make it mostly about self guilt.

That's what they did.

And now, that - coupled with so many other things they have the mini tribes in America that are only gonna get deeper, more entrenched, and one day - literally they'll have recognized tribes and castes.

Anyone from Bibi to Putin can pit one against the other, just like European Empires used to do to Asian countries.

Now I Have kids of school age and I don't even fight it. Best they blend in and suck up and work the system. So yeah. I keep reading my little boy's homework with him....anythiong from Climate Change to Slavery seems to be something I've read a lot about. Haven't read as much on Paul Revere's ride, or barefoot fighters in Valley Forge. Don't remember seeing anything about John Paul jones and "I have only just begun to fight!". Sometimes I feel like saying.....common people, boys and men, took up arms, and while so many ancient arabic and asian civilizations stayed under European Rule and got raped....... Americans, kicked their asses out because we don't deal with that stuff too well.

But alas, years ago I concluded America was not to be a nation state ands that "certain elements" in America, have won. I decided more than before that America was just one big license - to make money. Be it legally, or semi legally. And that's ok, no problem with that.

As long as the income keeps coming and taxes stay zero, I'm at ease with the new world.

But I can still be nostalgic, Music, shows, movies, historical events from before. All great stuff.
