This strikes me as a potentially great project. Trump actually sounds somewhat coherent and, dare I say it, "presidential". Would it have happened under Harris? I'd think yes, but Trump is of course claiming it's solely due to him.
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Tuesday is announcing investments worth up to $500 billion for infrastructure tied to artificial intelligence by a new partnership formed by OpenAI, Oracle and SoftBank.
The new entity, Stargate, will start building out projects needed for the further development of the fast-evolving AI in Texas, according to the White House. The initial investment is expected to be $100 billion and could reach five times that sum.
Joining Trump for the announcement fresh off his inauguration will be Masayoshi Son of SoftBank, Sam Altman of OpenAI and Larry Ellison of Oracle. Son, a billionaire based in Japan, already committed in December to invest $100 billion in U.S. projects over the next four years. The head of SoftBank previously committed to $50 billion in new investments ahead of Trump's first term, which included a large stake in the troubled office-sharing company WeWork.https://www.lmtonline.com/business/article/trump-t...

Ok, watching the press briefing now. And Trump is now riffing at the end of it, repeating all the usual nonsense.

Perhaps, but do you really think she would have been able to extract a $100B funding commitment from Masayoshi Sun?
Earlier when Masayoshi and Trump were announcing the $100 commitment from SoftBank, Trump, true to his style, after thanking him, Trumps said why not make it $200B? They sort of laughed it off at hat time. At today's announcement, Masayoshi repeated that story before saying I thought about it, and decided on $500B over four years. Getting back to Kamala, do you think she would have proposed right to his already generous face to increase the $100B into the $200B?

It’s easy to extract promises and say you’re going to do something.
It’s had work to actually do it.
No one is lazier, or more dishonest, than Trump.
On May 9, President Joe Biden traveled to Racine, Wisconsin to announce a plan by Microsoft to build a $3.3 billion data center. The White House said that it expects the project to result in 2,300 unionized construction jobs and 2,000 permanent jobs in the area.
The site selected by Microsoft is the same site where, in 2017, then-President Donald Trump announced a $10 billion investment by Foxconn for a manufacturing facility. By 2021, Foxconn abandoned most of its plans and never delivered on promise to bring 13,000 new jobs.In his remarks at the ceremony, Biden chided Trump for his failure to deliver during his time in office.
“He and his administration promised a $10 billion investment by Foxconn to build a new manufacturing complex and create 13,000 new jobs. In fact, he came here with your senator, Ron Johnson, literally holding a golden shovel, promising to build the ‘eighth wonder of the world,” Biden said. “Look what happened. They dug a hole with those golden shovels, and then they fell into it.”
The failure of the Foxconn facility is part of an overall downward trend in manufacturing that occurred under Trump’s administration.https://wisconsinindependent.com/infrastructure/tr...

It’s had work to actually do it.
It’s hard work to actually do it.
Sigh. I need an edit function.

“The first phase--currently under construction--is expected to be completed at the end of 2026. At that time, 500 workers are expected to be employed, the spokesman said.”

“Microsoft has paused construction work for its planned second phase of a data centre for artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing in Racine County, Wisconsin.
The company said in an email to GCR that works were “fully on track” for the $3.3bn first phase of the development, as announced in May 2024. However, work on the second segment had been paused while Microsoft evaluated how the project might be affected by “recent changes in technology”.
The company said changes in the plans and permits needed to be discussed with local and state authorities, a process that is expected to take some months.”

Sneaky Alpha, you didn’t print out the entire paragraph.

No jobs yet at Microsoft and when the project will be completed now with the changes being made in technology.
The second phase has not started yet.
