Doesn't look like he's completely thrown in the towel but there is an organize core of people that seem to make it impossible for him to whittle away at the 20 or 21 holdouts.

Yeah - probably more than that. Lots of reporting that many of the original 55 who voted against him have been coordinating to "slow roll" their votes in opposition, so that he loses votes with every round of voting.

That puts Jordan in a bind. He can't call a third vote, since that proves he's losing support. It's probably not going to help him if nothing happens heading into the weekend. If the House spins its wheels trying (and failing) to give McHenry some extra powers, then it buys him some time to see if his completely misguided pressure campaign might actually work. It won't, of course, but he doesn't seem to realize that.
