--- who helped America's middle class be the world's envy as they are today.

Not that many years ago, Trump the God Awful, was complaining about how few people immigrate to the US from Norway, vs from third world pest holes.

from the net sifter:

Trust and Favorability: Major surveys show that confidence in the U.S. has dropped significantly across Europe. Polling from the European Council on Foreign Relations indicates that just 11% of Europeans now view the United States as an ally that shares their values, while the rest see it as a necessary partner or rival

Immigration & Emigration: Less than 10% of the total foreign-born population in the U.S. is from Europe. While exact numbers vary year by year, only roughly 60,000 EU citizens typically receive U.S. green cards annually

Current Trend: In recent years, migration between the U.S. and Europe has become more balanced. In nearly all EU member states, the number of Americans relocating to Europe has hit record highs, particularly in countries like Portugal.

Self-Determination: Broad polls like the Bertelsmann Stiftung eupinions survey show that up to 63% of EU citizens prefer the European Union to "go its own way" geopolitically, demonstrating a stronger continental identity rather than a desire to assimilate into American society

Yes, Shinyland may look good to you, if you are in Nicaragua or Haiti. Not so much if you are in Denmark. Which is more appealing to you, paying a 50% tax rate, when you see a lot of that money coming back to you in health care, education, and infrastructure, vs paying half that rate, and seeing a lot of it going to enrich the rich?
