Bug or Feature?The forced searching across individual boards, rather than all boards, is a feature.

https://www.shrewdm.com/MB?pid=36083837The stronger board separation is what makes the idiosyncratic culture develop within each board, and what makes the platform better as a whole.I also wished to preserve the features of the earlier TMF platform because time is a great filter, and if something worked well for so many years there are often subtle reasons for it doing so. This makes me skeptical, or at least very careful, when adding features unique to this system. They can solve a problem but change the culture in unpredictable ways.
Imagine a big conference room with lots of dinners going on. On each table is a large and clear flag, 'Index Funds', 'Brookfield Corporation', etc. One way is to visit the table that want to learn from, say hello and start reading and expressing ideas on the topic. Another way is to search for a word and then find someone on some table with someone randomly speaking the word, then teleport to that table out of the blue and answer it. The two approaches will create different cultures.
I can definitely see advantages of a cross board search in any case and we might put it in. In any case, there are likely only 2 or 3 boards that you can expect the answer from, for a given search - so you can always just visit each of 2 or 3 boards and search.
