'Hamas sympathizers have completely taken over the rotunda of the US Capitol calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.'

Betcha they won't receive the same treatment the January 6th protesters did.

LurkerMom: Betcha they won't receive the same treatment the January 6th protesters did.

Well, they were arrested, and a few were charged with assaulting police officers.

But I didn't see any bear spray, clubs, ice picks, flag poles, breaking of windows and doors, or any other signs of violence beyond the three folks, though.

You?

Nor did we see attempts to subvert a basic and constitutionally laid out government process.

You mean besides disrupting the confirmation of the Israeli ambassador? Senatorial business is very Constitutional:

... and [the President] shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.

Now get out there and demand these people be jailed in solitary confinement for years.

Come on. Do it. LOL.

Kind of like pulling a fire alarm while in session.

BTW, I agree with your distinction that today's Rotunda protesters were mostly peaceful compared to the J6 mayhem.

My fire alarm post is really about the two tier system of justice it represents.

My fire alarm post is really about the two tier system of justice it represents.

Someday you may come to understand that one of those tiers is "with evidence", while the other is "without evidence."

They got the goods on Trump. Absent bought Judge Cannon (IT'S GOOD TO OWN A JUDGE), he goes down.

They got nuthin' on Joe. Nuthin.

My fire alarm post concerned the unequal treatment for the offense of disrupting an official proceeding.

J6 Protesters - throw the book at them. versus

Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., pulling the fire alarm on Sept. 30, 2023 during debt ceiling hearings - nothing to see here. Is there even an investigation?

It's an absolute pleasure to see this happen.

So deserved.

If someone wants to hand out food there, put me in for 20 bucks.

Of course, seeing stupid French palaces and museums evacuated is just glorious.

BHM: My fire alarm post concerned the unequal treatment for the offense of disrupting an official proceeding.

I understood that, but your post was predicated on , "Kind of like pulling a fire alarm while in session."

"Kind of" ?

Is it or isn't it.

You represented one set of 'kind of' situations for an analogy, I chose another.

Yes. Look before you speak. Took just a second to find this.

"Three days later, House Republicans say they have no intention of sweeping matters under the rug.

'This has to be addressed directly,' said Rep. Derrick Van Orden, R-Wis.

Bowman insists he pulled the alarm by mistake.

In a statement, he said he was rushing to get to the vote and activated the alarm while trying to open a locked exit door. The door is typically open during weekdays.

But Republicans aren't buying it."

And on Oct. 2: "U.S. Capitol Police said Monday that it is investigating an incident in which Democratic Rep. Jamaal Bowman pulled a fire alarm in a Capitol Hill office building ahead of a last-minute vote to fund the government and avert a shutdown."

So either it was an innocent mistake, or he's lying. Unless he confesses, or they can find a witness to testify that Jamal told them he pulled the alarm (or was going to pull the alarm), this investigation will go nowhere. I know nothing about this guy's character, so I have no idea which way this will go.

The QOP is desperate for the consistent application of the law.

The constant attempts by the right to draw equivalencies between J6 insurrectionists and jaywalkers suggests otherwise.
