Manlobbi, first thank you so much for your labor of love in creating new/old board.

Is there some way, on this board, to have something of a repository of the posts from the old MF BRK board? Or will they eventually be forever lost?

I won't add the past history, but authors should start re-posting now on the Shrewdom boards any articles written by themselves in the past that are particularly noteworthy, as new articles. If the board isn't here, post to the 'Any Missing Board Requested Here' board to have it added.

Some authors definitely will have copies of what they wrote in the past, particularly long posts, and there is no problem for them to re-post it (it is hardly even a 're-post' given that there will be no duplication - their work would otherwise invisible, which isn't fair to them, nor the community).

It needs to be the original author re-posting, however. If that not you, you should contact the author, if you can, and ask them to post it here to stay. We all want these interesting posts back, and some of them can be.

For those who were not aware, all the old posts are still available here. And well indexed.

I suppose that might change if fool.com gets snarky, but as they specifically granted permission for that site to crawl and index the forum data,
and they don't wish to host it themselves any longer, an objection seems unlikely.

but incorrectly did not recall that it had a data cache.

I think it used to link to directly to the MF message boards.
When the boards were shut down DataHelper (or someone else?) scraped the boards and linked them to the site. I believe the last couple of weeks of posts were lost for some reason, but everything else is there.

More precisely, the site always crawled and stored all the posts, because the full text was needed for the indexing.
The crawling was done with the Fool's permission.
When the old Fool site went off line, the index site made available the content it had always had on hand.
The assumption is that the Fool folks don't care about that.

Is there any easy way to keep track of favorite posts here? I guess I should use the favorite page feature of my web browser?

I used to use "reply later", but that doesn't appear to be available here.
