In grad school, and after, I was in a job where I read and wrote lots of reports. Lots. In school, lots of text books and journals. So when I came home, I didn't particularly want to read any more.
To my surprise, I've started reading again. Retired almost 4 years now, and I've picked up a book. Actually, I reread "Dune" a month ago. Working on some other fiction now.
Probably should identify some new stuff. Always liked good sci-fi. I might reread some of the classics, like Asimov and Bradbury. Not sure whom today is putting out that level of work.
And it's so easy. I put my library card into "Libby", and I can borrow digital books without having to get dressed and go anywhere. Sweet.

I'm with you. In the Philippines I found a bookstore where I could get paperbacks for $1.25, read a few books, and collected Dean Koontz. I lucked out here in Fl and picked up 60 Koontz novels for $80, but I haven't started reading them because I'm playing Mr Fixit on the house. Every time I turn around there"s something to fix, and I've got to have my PC time. :)

I do an annual cycling trip and like to take a small, easy to carry paperback. In ‘24 it was Starship Troopers, last year Enders Game. Any suggestions for this year? Small, easy read, sci-fi. Classic sci-fi preferred.
Read Dune with my boys a few years ago. We all enjoyed.

I don't know if you could find it, but I have several books on my shelf from when I read a lot (i.e. they may be out of print). One was "The World Inside". I enjoyed Heinlein's "Friday". Several by Heinlein, actually ("Stranger in a Strange Land", "Revolt in 2100" which is apropos for this board since it deals with a theocracy), Poul Anderson's "The Time Patrol".
Not up on the latest sci-fi. May have to consult the Hugo Awards for title suggestions going forward.

I looked up the Hugo Awards, and last year a title "Ministry of Time" popped. So, I just borrowed it in Libby (app). I really liked "Time Patrol" a couple decades ago, so this sounds promising.
