A very small group of hardcore climate change denialists/minimalizers with huge influence are going to undo the progress the US has made in addressing the effects of climate change.

The NYT has an excellent podcast this morning explaining how this has come about.

https://www.nytimes.com/2026/02/12/podcasts/the-da...

More and more we are becoming a nation led by anti-science no nothings.

A transcript should be available tomorrow.

The administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency is expected on Thursday to repeal a scientific finding that requires the federal government to fight global warming. The move is the latest push by the Trump administration to wipe out climate regulations in the United States.

Lisa Friedman, a New York Times reporter who covers climate policy, has spent the past few weeks piecing together the inside story of how a small group of activists turned its goal of rolling back environmental protections into reality.

The NY Times is not a scientific journal.

The federal government does not produce "scientific findings" that "require" political action of any kind. Those are political decisions.

Lisa Friedman is not a scientist.

Activists do what activists do--engage in political actions to accomplish political (not scientific) objectives.

Scientific findings cannot be "repealed." Political findings can be repealed.

Scientific findings cannot be "repealed."

Scientific facts:

1. CO2, CO, and CH4 are greenhouse gases that trap heat.

2. Levels of the above 3 gases have increased in the atmosphere.

The mean temperature of the earth’s atmosphere at the surface has risen approximately
1.8-2.3 degrees Fahrenheit since pre-industrial times.

The rate of temperature change is accelerating, with over half of the above mentioned change occurring in the last 40 years.

Ah. The methane thing. Yeah, we’re not giving up meat so that we proles can eat bugs. Not doing it.

Plus, cow farts are carbon neutral:

Cows eat grass —> cows poop out poop and fart methane + exhale CO2 —-> poop fertilizes grass seedling and methane breaks down into CO2 —-> grass grows by consuming CO2.

No more left wing pseudo science as a substitute for the real thing. Ever.

Scientific findings cannot be "repealed." Political findings can be repealed.

Noted science expert Barack Obama knew he didn’t have the votes to amend the Clean Air Act so he just invented a finding that CO2 is a dangerous pollutant.

CO2 is vital to the planet. liberals would drop it to zero and kill everyone.

Wasn’t even thinking about cow farts, but don’t let me stop you if that’s what you want to talk about.

The National Laboratory of the Rockies in Golden, formerly known as the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, is cutting another 134 jobs amid federal funding cuts.

The cuts included people in both research and operations roles, an NLR spokesperson said. The spokesperson said the cuts were made "to adjust to existing and projected funding levels and alignment with DOE priorities."

Democratic U.S. Rep Brittany Pettersen, whose district includes NRL, and Democratic U.S. Sen. John Hickenlooper each weighed in on the move.

"Donald Trump has consistently put our federal workforce on the chopping block," Pettersen said in a statement. "These are people who work to make energy more affordable, conduct groundbreaking climate research, and keep our state up and running."

“Beyond being some of our country’s brightest minds, these are our community members, our neighbors who have families to support," the statement continued. "Trump’s backwards agenda is going to undo the progress we’ve made to combat the climate crisis and have cascading effects on our economy. I’m deeply sorry to the employees whose livelihoods are now in jeopardy.”

"No question, the Trump administration is dismantling Golden’s renewable energy lab and hollowing out our energy industry, driving away some of the smartest and most innovative people in the country," Hickenlooper said on social media. "The cost of this reckless assault on science and innovation could not be higher. Americans just need to look at their electricity bill."
