Fascinating that you would disregard actual video of the criminals in action because the video was presented on an unapproved source. LOL, in order to be so dismissive, you focus on the venue where viewed, not the content of the video itself.
Do think some entity hired actors and produced the video on a sound stage before circulating to fake news outlets like the Post, who dutifully publish it as if it were real? If the same video was shown by the NYT, then all of a sudden, the video is instantly and magically transformed and is then documenting real events.
From the Post Article
"Colorado Gov. Jared Polis dismissed anger over Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua taking over apartment buildings in the Denver suburb of Aurora, calling it “imagination” — despite video footage, police reports and the city’s mayor confirming it’s happening."
Imaginary, don't believe your lying eyes.
This is like the hundreds of hours of video on Fox News showing thousands and thousands of illegals pouring over our border in all sorts of ways and yet all of it was fake according to the Dems; and fake it was, until wise Governor Abbott started sharing.

What I saw in the video was armed people entering an apartment.
How do we know they're Venezuelan?
How do we know they're a gang? Or specifically the Tren de Aragua gang?
How do we know they're taking over the building and not just fairly peacefully entering a single apartment with the occupant's permission?
Again, this was armed men entering an apartment. They knocked on the door and entered. The video clip doesn't prove anything else.
Please note, I'm not saying this wasn't that specific Venezuelan gang - just that the video doesn't prove it. We need something else for that proof.
This is how critical thinking works. You see what you see, but you don't read into it MORE than you see.

Now, as to the underlying migrant crime problem....
Too bad you don't watch Fox news where you be exposed to more fake video of the of the criminals taking a hammer to what was a very substantial door and lock, the video went on for 30 sec or so as chunks of door were being ripped out, but the door held firm. In your style of critical thinking must we assume they were the apartments tenants who forgot their key?
Fox showed another video taken inside a mock-up of a tenants apartment where the woman was showing the six or seven locks she had from top to bottom of her door. She explained it was really difficult to unlock and then re-lock all these locks whenever she went for mail or take out the trash. She said she was forced to add all these locks, the only way she could feel safe, when so many apartments were having their doors kicked in. She added it all began when the Venezuelans moved in.
Fox showed a video of an older couple, aged 65 or so, walking down the sidewalk, away from the building, each carrying boxes. The local news reporter asked them why they were moving. They responded it is just too dangerous to stay there, besides the current incident, they said two days ago there was a shootout and their car had bullet holes in it. They said this was a nice place to live until the Venezuelans moved in and that was soon after a migrant shelter was opened up in Denver (a sanctuary city) only a few miles away.
Below is a link to a Fox article that makes up a more comprehensive fairy tale maligning the benevolent Venezuelans. Irony warning, Fox video headline
CO Task Force Targeting Venezuelan Gang Activity. The state is going after the same Gang Activity that the mayor of Denver claims is imaginary.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/sanctuary-citys-...Although Denver's suburbs don't share its sanctuary city policies, the influx of migrants into the Mile High City has spilled outward. Now, its neighbors are facing an unprecedented wave of activity from a notorious Venezuelan prison gang.
Officials from Aurora, about nine miles east of Denver, told Fox News Digital the Tren de Aragua gang has gained a strong foothold in their city, commandeering apartment complexes and drumming up violent crime and sex trafficking.
"We currently have entire complexes under gang control — complexes where staff have been beaten up, they've been threatened, their families have been threatened [and] complexes where there are no staff left on the property," Aurora City Council Member Danielle Jurinsky said. "These complexes are being run by this Tren de Aragua gang.
"They start brokering apartments themselves when someone leaves out of fear or whatever. They go in and take pictures of the apartment themselves. Then, I've been told, within hours, a Venezuelan family moves in.

No. It would prove they were likely criminals illegally entering an apartment. Don't know if they were Venezuelan from that. It would be some evidence of a gang - possibly not enough for a jury to convict, but definitely a piece of evidence they are a gang.
the woman was showing the six or seven locks she had from top to bottom of her door.
Demonstration she was scared, for sure. Of what? Why is she afraid? Making someone afraid isn't necessarily a crime.
The local news reporter asked them why they were moving. They responded it is just too dangerous to stay there, besides the current incident, they said two days ago there was a shootout and their car had bullet holes in it.
Again, demonstration of fear. Apparently well-founded. Of what? Back to the same issues as the lady above.

If it's a fairy tale, its not evidence. If it is NOT a fairy tale, I have 3/4 of a billion reasons not to trust Fox without some corroboration. Doesn't mean they're lying, but they lack credibility. It will take some time to earn that back.

And it isn't just that. Back when Trump was trying to commandeer local police forces into things they didn't want to do with the immigrant community he helped cause the immigrant community to lower cooperation with the police. This means, less immigrant on immigrant crime being reported, because they are talking about rounding up all illegals and using the local police to help. I've seen stats that cooperation lowered 60% and more in some areas.
We need cooperation if we're going to deal effectively with crime in these areas - Trump didn't help.

Hey Mike,

I think disregard is not the correct word. I consider my self more of a skeptic. I often try to confirm stories like this, even when I read them from sources I trust.
This story contained some ‘doesn’t pass the sniff test’ for me.
First, I searched the story and only found it on the Post, Fox, and a few other small sites I’ve never heard of. Nothing from ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, WaPo, or any other large, mostly reliable news source.
Second, I literally just returned from an out-of-town family religious celebration/visit. Any guesses where that town that was? Well, no need to guess. It was Aurora, CO. One of my sisters has lived there for decades as well as 2 of my nephews and their families. And I had dozens of conversations with folks from Aurora (family, family friends, neighbors) and not a single mention of anything about an invasion of illegal immigrants taking over an apartment building. Nothing. Nada. Zip.
Third, these gangs apparently were knocking on doors. Mighty friendly gang.
So ya, I’m pretty skeptical about this story.
Did some local crime take place? Probably. But certainly not a state-wide story and most definitely not a national story. Fox is known for its ‘fake swarm of locusts illegal aliens’ (aka brown people) stories over the years, especially leading up to an election.
Just for the record, I believe our borders need to be secure. But I also think that it can be done humanely, you know, without permanently separating mothers and babies and putting them in jail. I also think people who have the drive to try to get to this country through immense danger are just the kind of strong people we need as immigrants. And immigrants need a reasonable path to citizenship. It’s in our DNA.
That’s one of the many reasons I support the only candidate who has a record of prosecuting criminals trying to sneak over the border, Kamala Harris.
As an American, you have the right to support a convicted felon, an adjudicated rapist, an insurrectionist, and a candidate who committed a federal crime on sacred ground (yes, we have videos and pictures).
But having the right clearly doesn’t make it right.
Off to do more landscaping work in my yard. Boy, sure could use an illegal immigrant to help me. 😁

No. From what I've read it's two councilmen and a mayor saying this, the "Officials". The police do not know who these people are, and have said so.
The councilman said the same thing with an apartment shut down for health and safety violations six months ago. The governor has made available any assistance to take "anything back" if the city wants it. But the police intelligence doesn't agree with the councilman and Mayor.

No. There *IS NO TAKEOVER OF AN APARTMENT COMPLEX*. I've seen your videos. I appreciate the lady locking her door multiple times, and propping a lever under the knob so no one can kick the door in. I saw the bullet hole in one car door. I never saw a door kicked in, a body, someone who was injured or even a description. I do believe that some person(s) fired a gun(s) in the parking lot. I saw the fellow chipping away at the door - one of the oddest ways I've ever seen to break in a door.
Why are these gangs posing for these shots of standing in front of a door? These are very good shots - and the camera is in just the right place, Congrats on the filmer. The guns are there and never fired and I like how they never held the guns like they were ready to fire. Then the police report (not on film) no complex taken over that they know of and they don't know who these people are - not giving the name of a gang.
There's even a narrator in the film(s). But no interview of police called to investigate a crime. The info is limited in the film and the police don't support the claims by the councilmen and the Mayor.
It looks like a made up film composed by, shudder, crisis actors! Segue to Alex Jones!

Condescending Clap Trap.
Education is not the same as common sense.
Education is not a measure of values.
Many (most?) of these educated elites could not change a tire or operate a chainsaw, yet they look down on a welder or an electrician, or a diesel mechanic because they lack "education".
Consider the HS grad who started a plumbing business right out of HS. Just himself and a truck for the first few years, as he slowly builds his business, adding a helper and later another truck and later more helpers. In addition to be a skilled plumber, he is also skilled at running a business, keeping records, paying taxes, creating jobs, meeting payroll. Any loans he got along the way, to finance a truck for example, he is on the hook for and is not asking for anyone else to pay the loan off for him. Uneducated? Hardly. More accurately described as educated in other things, things many would say are more important to our economy than a degree in social influencing.
Meeting a payroll!! That is something very few of those who govern us have ever had to worry about, too bad, as it would bring a stark reality into focus which would result in better legislation.

What is even stupider is believing Biden or Harris would do anything to reduce the actual inflow. Well, as long as you brought up being stupid.
President Biden signed an executive order with severe border restrictions in June, almost exactly the same restrictions that DonOld Trump tried to enact in 2018, to temporarily shut down asylum requests once the average number of daily encounters tops 2,500 between official ports of entry.
Migrants who don’t meet the requirement of having a "credible fear" when they apply for asylum will be
immediately removable, and they will be removed in a matter of days, if not hours. Individuals who cross the southern border unlawfully or without authorization will generally be ineligible for future asylum (with some exceptions, including for unaccompanied children).
The executive order made it easier for immigration officers to remove those without a lawful basis to remain and reduce the burden on Border Patrol agents.
In short, republicans may be stupid but only because they do not know or understand the executive order that has reduced border encounters to below the number of encounters between ports of entry in June 2019, the last comparable year prior to the pandemic.
Since the orders are not permanent and he cannot provide additional funding, it is up to Congress to write legislation and provide the money to hire additional border agents, judges, and equipment to secure the border.
You know, like the bill DonOld killed because he was more eager to use American security as an election year campaign issue than to actually take essential steps toward making America more secure.
So, yeah, stupid indeed.

So, we finally get a glimpse into the real motivation. You’re not just against illegal immigration, as most Democrats are as well. You’re against ALL immigration.
Increasing intake capacity makes legal immigration easier and reduces illegal immigration. If the immigration system works efficiently, that reduces the need for potential immigrants to resort to illegal immigration.
But if your immigration system is broken, as most people believe the US system is, illegal immigration becomes the last resort for those trying to escape their desperate situation in various Central and South American countries.

What is even stupider is believing Biden or Harris would do anything to reduce the actual inflow.
Nope. I think we are in luck, the Euros also want to tighten up, so getting agreements On the Geneva Convention might be easier, but I don't know. For people crossing the Mexican American border, we could suggest a requirement they apply at the first safe country they come to, and we decide who is safe.
We should have a process and interview that gets it done in six weeks, and the ability to shut down the border if too many people are crossing. Sound familiar?

I would definitely watch that but sadly it has been announced that "breaking" will not be part of the 2028 Olympics.

Sure as long as we are crafting that compromise, something like that should be discussed. One problem I have with any "counting and close" methodology is the needless complexity, eg "Close when for a certain period or until the average yada yada reaches some thresh hold but only if the total number of closure days is below some sliding scale for the year. You need two math PHD's and an AI Statistician to figure out what this means, let alone how to harness it. One thing it requires is for information to flow instantly from each sector to a central authority, followed by number crunching, then orders for the day coming back in time to be distributed to the morning shifts. And the ones that Biden is flying right over the border should also be counted as part of the daily dynamic. One thousand more flights in = One thousand less walk-ins.
It sounds nuts and unmanageable, because it is...

I didn't have a problem with it. I just didn't like the number of closure days possible being reduced each yearl

That's done all the time Mike - don't expect everything to run smoothly, because it won't.

And look. Colorado’s governor has changed his tune. So much for all the support he got from our leftie friends:
https://legalinsurrection.com/2024/09/surprise-col...Colorado is a zero tolerance state for illegal activity, taking over buildings has no place in Colorado, and I am confident that the city of Aurora shares this basic value and will enforce the law if it is being violated there. I urge them to do so quickly and in a thorough manner. Over the last month, I have been in regular contact with the City of Aurora and the Aurora Police Department and have offered any and all state assistance to support their efforts if requested. The state has been ready for weeks to back up any operation by the Aurora Police Department needed to make Aurora safer.Quite the change in tone from the You Proles Are Imagining Things from before.
Notice the “over the last month” part, revealing the lie the original statement always was.
Vote blue, the watch your cities and states bleed red.

He said all that from the git go while also saying they were imagining about the gang because it didn't agree with the police intelligence. I also told you the two councilmen and Mayor claimed that an apartment complex shut down for Health and safety violations six months ago was shut down due to gang activity. Neither claim appears to be true, but if you need help taken a building back, we got your 6.

You do realize that there’s no wall around blue sanctuary cities, right? And that the effects of stupid liberal policies never stay in one spot, right? The more I look at it the more I think maybe the effects of liberal policies do stay in one spot? (Unfortunately for our friends in the red states!)
Let's look at some additional data shall we?
Blue States have higher Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita.
Blue states are typically less dependent on federal government assistance. States with higher per capita GDP (often blue states) tend to be less reliant on federal funding.
I.E. Blue states contribute more in federal taxes than they receive back in federal spending, effectively subsidizing red states. (Liberals financially supporting MAGAs)
Blue states have lower rates of poverty compared to red states.
Blue states often invest more in infrastructure, leading to better roads and public transportation systems. Who remembers Trumps Infrastructure Week? Facepalm...
Many blue states have expanded Medicaid coverage (Obamacare) and implemented policies to increase healthcare access.
Murder rates have been consistently higher in red states compared to blue states since 2000.
In 2021 and 2022, murder rates in red states were 33% higher than in blue states.
Contributing factors: Higher gun ownership rates in red states, Higher poverty rates in red states, Lower educational attainment in red states
No wonder our MAGA friends are so angry, if I lived in a red state I'd be angry as well. #uneducated,poor,more-likely-to-be-shot,no-healthcare,poor-infrastructure,no-freedom-if-you're-a-woman,MAGA

It's amazing to me that the same people who are most opposed to "government handouts" and "government assistance" are often the very ones who are disproportionately receiving it and benefiting from it. Except of course, when their home states' governors helpfully decline it on behalf of all of them. <sigh>
