Twenty-five percent of Americans say it is “probably” or “definitely” true that the FBI instigated the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, a false concept promoted by right-wing media and repeatedly denied by federal law enforcement, according to a new Washington Post-University of Maryland poll.
They get this from video of Ray Epps telling everyone the night before Jan 6 that they have to go up and into the capital tomorrow, then after a pause adds "peacefully". Right after "peacefully" the fellow taping him says "FED" multiple times. Obviously saying watch out Roy is a FED. Later, after Jan 6 is done, he responds to a friends query that he wasn't just there, he "orchestrated" it. Originally, the DOJ declined to prosecute him and that was seen as evidence he was a FED (or assisting). Now they want 6 months in jail. One of the police chiefs in DC wrote a book and said there were 60-80 Federal agents there, it doesn't take much to realize he's not in a position to know. Am not going to read his book. :) I mean the guy lies to sell a book.
My brother buys into this, but I think that's the bamboozled effect. I would think that anyone who wasn't present at Jan 6 should be able to change their mind, but not if you are bamboozled, then you will cling to any false factoid that supports your belief and discuss it with other bamboozled.
The FBI has categorically rejected allegations of any involvement in sparking the Capitol riot. “This notion that somehow the violence at the Capitol on January 6 was part of some operation orchestrated by FBI sources and agents is ludicrous,” FBI Director Christopher A. Wray said during a House hearing in July, “and is a disservice to our brave, hard-working, dedicated men and women.”
