Attended the Saline MI “No Kings” protest this morning. Great and respectful crowd- I’d estimate about 5-6X the size of the April “Hands Off” Protest.

Crowd was peaceful, mostly middle aged and older, though there were quite a few younger folks as well.

Trump has a problem here. The more he clamps down, the more the American people oppose his authoritarian tactics, and the larger the protests grow.

I live in a small town in southern California with a low key vibe (but powerful and alert) and attended our protest, which consisted of a few hundred people gathered at the main intersection in town and waving signs and chanting (and seeing old friends and talking about old times).

It was totally peaceful, except for about 20 minutes in a couple of guys went and stood in the road and tried to block traffic and create a stir. These guys were not from around here (the town is small enough and has a lot of long-term residents so they would have been known if they lived here, and nobody knew them and they had a vibe that was entirely out of whack with the rest of the crowd and the town in general).

They were yelled at by the protesters to "Get out of the road", a couple of people tried to forcibly push them out of the road (thankfully those confrontations didn't turn violent) and a couple of old ladies tried to go reason with them (unsuccessfully), and after a couple minutes the cops came, cuffed them and drove them away as the crowd cheered (for the cops). Nevertheless, that could have provided some video that if someone on X or a news organization that isn't committed to depicting accurately what happened wanted to cast the protest as something other than peaceful, they would have what they wanted. I won't speculate on who planted the rabble-rousers, it could have been anyone who wanted to stir things up, but they were definitely NOT supported by the rest of the hundreds of protesters.

We were gratified to see thousands of people at the Charlottesville No Kings protest as well as thousands more waving and honking their horns to show their solidarity. Not nearly enough to stop our descent into Fascist dictatorship, but gratifying to see that there are still people of conscience in the US.

We need to be better prepared for the Trump Fascists who try to provoke an angry response and videos for Fox propaganda. I like to respond to curses and insults with ‘God bless you’ or ‘how kind.’

My wife and I were at the No Kings protest in Mike Pence's hometown. There were 2-3 times more than the April event. The walk around the courthouse became an ouroboros. The thing that I took as a real positive was that there were a few counter protester and hecklers on the street. We have attracted their attention. They are worried. I hope that the murders in Minnesota don't emboldened like sick-minded MAGAts. Maybe the ATF and FBI need to focus on domestic terrorists instead of immigrants.

Our little town turned out 533 people to march peacefully around downtown.

When we had the first of these rallies there was a large presence of cops. This time they were nowhere in sight. They knew the protest would be peaceful and it was. A few MAGA were unfriendly but were easily ignored. Many supportive people honked and waved as they passed by.

My sign (idea borrowed from somewhere else): TRUMP THE WORST PRESIDENT SINCE TRUMP. Yep, he'll always be at the bottom of the heap and now I guess he can get two slots at the bottom. (this is assuming that in the future we will still have factual history).

We had a few hundred people show up. I got to know a cute young lesbian, full of energy, and a few cars smoked us out and shouted obscenities. I grabbed a free sign, sat in my chair, handed out sunscreen. :)

Ms. Wolf and I attended our local town No Kings protest. I expected maybe 500 people. I haven’t seen an official count, but I’m estimating 2,500-3,000.

We were warned about counter protests, but all I saw was a guy in a pickup truck with a Trump flag. He drove by twice and went home.

The crowd was friendly and peaceful. It was a lot of fun.

The payment is that you got out and protested. Two ladies I talked to lamented that none of their neighbors were liberal. That's Florida. But The Villages seems to be a lot of non MAGA. I live in a golf cart community and see no advantage to a golf cart. Half of them think they can cross the highway to Publix grocery and the other half don't think you can. :) The police think you can go to Wallmart, but not Publix. If you get an electric bike, you can go anywhere though - you just use the sidewalk for the highway. They make electric trikes, and regular trikes, but I don't see people turning shopping into exercise.

The night before they were referring to us as speedbumps. A nearby sheriff was telling us if we acted up they would kill us.
