Keven Carpenter who has an excellent Substack on Berkshire posted this on weekly newsletter:
Max Olson, who publishes periodic compilations of Berkshire Hathaway annual letters, has confirmed that Buffett will no longer write these letters after his retirement. In other words, the 2024 letter was his last. Not a huge surprise, but sad news nonetheless.

Um.
Maybe I'm missing the obvious (it wouldn't be the first time), but as I understand it at the annual meeting last spring, WEB announced he would retire as Chairman at the end of the year, i.e on 31 December 2025.
So he remains Chairman as I type, and I expect some type of a Chairman's Letter in the 2025 annual report. It may well be short, and concede a great deal of the white space to Greg Abel, but barring superseding health issues or other news between now and then I am looking forward to hearing a benediction of sorts when the annual report drops early in 2026.

First of all, who is Max Olson, and how would he know?
Second, even if it’s true, he is not retiring. He will be the chairman of the 11th biggest public company in the world, by market capitalization.
Third, it would be natural for Abel to preside over the annual meeting, but the letter is a report on the company’s performance in the previous year, so unless he can’t do it, I expect Buffett, as CEO for all of 2025, to write most of the 2025 Annual Shareholder Letter. I could be wrong, but I am unconvinced by Olson’s so-called ‘confirmation’.

First of all, who is Max Olson, and how would he know? Max Olson was the editor of 50 years of Warren's letters from 1965-2014. He has updated it now in a new book that expands it to 60 years covering 1965-2024. He said on X that he contacted Buffett (presumably to get permission to reprint the letters) and received confirmation from Buffett that 2024 was indeed his last letter to shareholders. Based on this info, we can expect Greg to pen the 2025 letter.
