Don’t know if you guys have talked about this..if so my humble 2 cents worth :)
Glad to see Warren will be establishing a new charity which will receive all of his funds after his death. Howie, Susan, and Peter will decide the interests and people who need the help the most. They’ve earned Warren’s full faith and trust and they will act in a very big way as a TEAM and acting unanimously. Their smaller individual charities til now were also trial runs. They aced their tests.
This is well thought out and EARNED by his children. A couple decades ago, Warren acknowledged what Bill & Melinda Gates had achieved with philanthropy. Warren humbly put his money with them. They were really good at it. No buildings with Warren’s name plastered over it—not even a charity with his name on it. Invest it wisely. With the people best at it.
Meanwhile, he also gave more modest sums each year to his children who supported THEIR own interests/charities. He watched their efforts and progress over many years. He likes what he’s seen: obviously very proud of what his children have achieved and now in their 60s and 70s they’ve earned EVERYTHING.
In classic pragmatic Buffett genius—he assures the future causes in this new charity after his death will TRULY be worthwhile—because the causes will require unanimous agreement among the 3 children.
The evolution of Warren’s charity efforts. Impressive.

“ Buffett confirms he has cut the Gates Foundation from his will
Warren Buffett is leaving no room for doubt.
"The Gates Foundation has no money coming after my death," he told The Wall Street Journal in an interview for a story published today.
That was the strong implication of a news release last November in which he told shareholders his three children were "the named trustees of the charitable trust that will receive 99%-plus of my wealth," according to the provisions of his then-current will.
Howard, Susie, and Peter Buffett, who each have their own foundations, would have to "act unanimously" as they administered that trust, a requirement that he repeated to the Journal.
In a news release today, Buffett says it is "unlikely" there will be more changes to his will before he dies.“

He will also no longer fund the sons and daughter charities. It all goes to this new charitable trust run by the three of them. And their causes will require unanimous agreement.

This is fantastic news and one that will permanently keep “ a family smile” on Buffett and mom Susie. Couldn’t be a prouder legacy.
Coming to shareholders interest, the addition of Susie to the board was intentional. Between them, they have football field size interest in the perpetuation of culture at Berkshire over the coming decades. Couldn’t be happier as a shareholder. If any of you are following the shareholder activism at Southwest Airlines, I was dismayed by it.

I think Buffett should be awarded the Nobel peace prize.
Health, education & opportunity contribute to peace peace more than anything else. Buffett and those he inspired to give have positively impacted all 3 on a very large scale thus promoting global peace.
It would be a way for the Nobel committee to recognize that large scale charitable giving promotes global peace and also to encourage other super wealthy to do so in the future.

Let's keep it real pal, I love Buffett too, BUT, he has also been a role model for tax avoidance. He could have been much more outspoken with respect to social security, the debt, opportunities for others, and potential solutions to the loopholes that have favored the super rich for his entire life. Just sayin.
