Not a big issue but so far this week the WSJ Markets ( https://www.wsj.com/market-data/stocks/marketsdiar... ) diary data for the 'Week Ago' trading date 'New Highs' & 'New Lows' appears incorrect. As an example for 20250415 the New Highs are stated currently as 19 & the New Lows as 230. A week ago that data was listed as 26 & 30 respectively for the two days it's previously listed. The 19 & 230 appears to be drawn from 20250411 trading data and so I suspect a script / program is currently pulling those two data points from an incorrect field for now. This issue also happened yesterday & there's a note at the bottom of the screen that says "We are in the process of updating our Market Data experience and we want to hear from you" which probably accounts for the issue.

It's not fatal as long as one is tracking the data continuously, however it's worth keeping this in-mind until it's corrected. For the moment I record the NYSE data as (labels & data should be obvious)...

NYSE advn decln unchn newhi newlo Total
20250414 2231 568 39 29 38 2838
20250415 1507 1249 68 26 30 2824
20250416 1023 1747 60 25 63 2830
20250417 2105 653 65 14 40 2823
20250421 419 2369 35 24 106 2823
20250422 2528 251 43 23 13 2822

I noticed a week or two ago when looking at that WSJ page, for Nasdaq data it would sometimes show new highs and new lows as say 58 and 1100. Then I would refresh the page, and it would something like 24 and 175. Refresh again and it would revert to the previous numbers.

I think it’s also affecting Pinnacle data. Their data on the days with the odd refresh behavior appeared to combine the new highs from one update with the new lows from the other.

Below is an example of peculiar data. Even though the market on the 14th opened 12% above the recent closing low, held an intraday low 2.5% higher than the previous day’s low, and closed higher overall, the number of new lows still rose sharply compared to the day before.
day before.

This has now been corrected for the past two days - so all appears well for now. Kudos to the WSJ, when I contacted customer service about this (despite not being a current customer / subscriber) they appear to have corrected the issue ASAP, sending back an email that includes the following ...

We were able to confirm that there was an issue indeed with our Marketsdiary “WEEK AGO” values. The correct high and low week ago values for 21 Apr 2025 and 22 Apr 2025 should have been the following:

[a table of correct values]

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate that you notified us about it.

Nice work WSJ!
