"Federal rules of criminal procedure — and the Supreme Court — generally prohibit cameras in federal courtrooms.
Mr. Trump’s motion for a televised trial came in a filing adopting his bombastic and combative style.
In the motion, his lawyers argued that a televised trial was needed because the office of the special counsel, Jack Smith, had “sought to proceed in secret” with the election case, even though the prosecution has attracted enormous attention from the news media, had several public hearings and had countless rounds of court papers filed on a public docket."Whatever became of honorable criminals? As vile as they were, the Watergate participants and their attys somewhat respected the USA system of justice.
FatDon the orange rapist wants to turn the trial into reality TV... a WWE spectacle with himself cast as the protagonist, MAGA his tag team partner, and the entire US DoJ as a leftist monster, enemy of the people.
This ain't no secret or profound revelation. It's the international joke that Trump is a shameless liar with a team of shameless co-conspiratorial attorneys willing to make a farce out of the legal system.

Legal Eagle did a segment on the level of incompetence of the Trump lawyers over the past few years. I think a few of them were "F" tier, several "C" and "D", and I think his latest folks are "B". A lot of the lower lawyers have been indicted, and many of them are taking plea deals.
I think his latest team won't go down that path. They'll advocate for their client, as they should, but given the consequences some of his past lawyers are reaping, I'm sure the new team won't go there.
Didn't one of Trump's lawyers quit because he wasn't willing to go down that path? (I would have to rewatch the video to be sure, but I think one of the higher-tier lawyers basically said "no way, Jose".)

What exactly is the "that path" you are referring to? Sano was describing turning the courtroom into a partial media show. That's not against the law. Previous attorneys that got themselves in trouble, either broke the law, may have committed crimes that could mean disbarment. The Habba character already seems willing to do a media show - or so the speculation goes. I've been working on my new house - maybe I missed something. :)

Yeah, basically breaking the law. Filing motions is legit, even if sometimes frivolous. Sometimes just to delay (which I never got the point of...unless they aren't ready to go to trial, but then you just
tell the judge that).
I found the video. Didn't re-watch it.

And we would not be in this situation now if it were not for the corrupt, money-grubbing and cynical right wing mediasphere. Just look at what it has done to the likes of LM and Dope. It's literally brainwashed millions of Americans into believing lies. It foments hate and fear, perhaps mainly in the pursuit of the easy money, but also in pursuit of an authoritarianism that will benefit them. Just look to Putin's Russia where a corrupt and cynical oligarchy holds sway to see what can happen to the US with a fascist MAGA government.
Let's hope we can step back from the brink of that disaster.

Well, Sano wasn't talking breaking the law, just the media show which Habba seems willing to participate in. Trump is behaving as if he already lost, and is just going for the show now. One set of attorneys is filing (objections?) based on looks given by a clerk because that doesn't show up in the transcript.
If the law is against you argue the facts, if the facts are against you argue the law. In T's case any delay is seen as beneficial because all these cases run into each other.
The former attorneys filed legions of frivolous lawsuits, many of which had no supporting evidence, and broke the law like Giuliani. I don't see any exceptional lawyering on T's side so far. We're just up against the time grind.

Delaying a lawsuit - stretching out the time between the filing of the claim and the actual trial - is often very beneficial for defendants.
Part of that is that plaintiffs/prosecutors have the burden of proof - and the more time passes, the harder it is to prove the elements of a claim. Records get lost. Witnesses forget things. People move away or get sick or even die. It's just harder to prove that something happened three years after the fact than three months.
Part of that is that civil plaintiffs are (typically) trying to get monetary damages, which creates incentives to delay. Trivially, the longer between a claim and having to pay it is more time that the defendant gets to have access to the money. Alex Jones (for example) got many more years being a rich person instead of a poor person because it took so long to get the claim adjudicated. And in most run-of-the-mill lawsuits, the burdens of litigation expenses and the time value of money encourage better settlements if the plaintiffs are looking at a long delay between claim and recovery.
Finally, for most defendants, having more time between claim/charge and judgment/sentencing gives them time to mitigate the damage to their lives - to "get their affairs in order," as it were. If you have to serve a two-year stretch, you'd (usually) rather have a few years to prepare for that to happen rather than have it land on you immediately. If a plaintiff is seeking injunctive relief rather than damages (ie. an order for the defendant to do something or stop doing something, rather than money), you get more time to keep doing (or not doing) the thing - or to phase into making the change the plaintiff will force you to make.
So defense lawyers always try to drown the plaintiffs in delays. It almost always helps the defense.

While I didn't mention breaking the law, it's definitely part of the OrangeRapist's game plan; intentionally goading the court with clearly contemptuous conduct into a response that the defense can use as the basis for an appeal.
HabbaHubba hasn't gone off the rails in the courtroom yet ASAIK, but she is certainly following FatDon's lead -shamelessly lying- when speaking to the press on the courthouse steps.
Engeron said as much... that if it weren't for the defendents status as ex-potus with Secret Service attention, he would have been jailed for contempt of court.
The SenileCombover is shamelessly exploiting that status to keep his cult enraged such that their elected Reps stay true to the MAGAstaadt.
"At several points, Judge Engoron demanded Mr Trump's lawyers rein in his behaviour, and answer the questions posed to him. If they did not, the judge pledged to "draw every negative inference that I can".
"If Donald Trump was anybody other than a person with Secret Service protection, he would have been jailed for contempt of court," said Mitchell Epner, an attorney who handles commercial litigation. "

"Even though federal rules of criminal procedure forbid televising trials, Mr. Trump’s lawyers last week asked Judge Tanya S. Chutkan, who is overseeing the election subversion case, to agree to requests from news organizations to broadcast the proceedings.
Several media organizations had first raised the issue of televising the trial, which is scheduled to start in March in Federal District Court in Washington.
Is there any way to learn which media organizations actually made the request?
