Terrible situation for all concerned. Any quick and dirty estimate of the extent of BRK exposure?

Horrifying! I just woke up, and exactly at the moment I was reading your post, I heard something on TV that immediately caught my attention — I looked up as a live video feed was panning over the fires and I heard a reporter say that a Berkshire Hathaway real estate office had just been destroyed. Don’t know the exact location.

There was some news commentary I just heard indicating that many in these areas, especially in high end homes, have elected to limit insurance coverage or forego it altogether. Many others are largely underinsured or can’t qualify for insurance. Is this just like in Florida? Can it be that bleak for homeowners? I live in the northeast and just don’t have a good feel or appreciation I guess for those in parts of the country that face these climate related catastrophes and the challenges in obtaining decent coverage.

Based on Warren and BRK's history of not writing business when they can't price it properly, I would think that exposure would be low....Unless they underwrote reinsurance or super cat type policies and the devastation is so bad that those limits are reached.
