Dow says it will cut 4,500 jobs, shifting emphasis to artificial intelligence and automation
Shares of Dow Inc., which has about 34,600 employees globally, fell 2% before the market opened. Dow is based in Midland, Michigan. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/dow-job-cuts-layoffs-...That is about 13% of Dow's staff getting the heave ho.
But the people being laid off have agency! They can move to California and get a job picking lettuce, because the migrants who used to do that have been deported.

It's been quite awhile since I've been there, but Dow is Midland. Could smell the chem plants when driving into town on a workday. Wonder how hard it's going to hit the city ?

If I was going to reference a fictional character, for that outlook, it would be Catbert. But I don't need a fictional character. Anyone on CNBC, Fox Business, or the administration, would do just fine.

Good.
"Efficiency"
"Earnings"
this is what the "free trade" and "Information Economy" people have said for decades.
It's high time - -they participate.

Dow the chemical company is evil incarnate.
Any one who works for them, therefore, is a Nazi undeserving of any employment.

A fiction no one believes.
But it does highlight a Manichaean dualism that is more the signature of Trumpism.
And that a Trumper chose to accuse others of precisely the fallacy that he himself demonstrates on a regular basis raises questions about his ability to reason.

Rev. Baloney,
I think I am starting to perhaps understand where some of your cognitive biases are.
You say things like "a fiction no one believes."
You can say that YOU personally, don't believe it. Or perhaps speak on behalf of your friends or associates about what they do or don't believe.
But you can't speak on behalf of the 8 billion people living on the planet right now.
PLENTY of people on the Left in particular DO believe that Dow is evil incarnate.
Just like you believe Trump is evil incarnate.

I’m not speaking for 8 billion. The flip side of that argument is “Neither are you.”
But I am saying that polls reveal that more and more Americans do not believe a damned thing your overlords say.
