National Guard deployed to Minneapolis? Can they make arrests? Tim Walz warns ICE, Trump

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on Saturday announced that the state's National Guard has been activated and is assisting local law enforcement amid growing protests. This comes hours after Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a Minneapolis local and American citizen, was fatally shot by Border Patrol agents.

“Minneapolis Police resources are already stretched thin because of public safety disruptions federal immigration agents have caused. Due to this, we’ve requested the Minnesota National Guard help with staffing in response to today’s fatal shooting involving federal agents,” the city posted on X, platform formerly known as Twitter.

“This is out of an abundance of caution to reinforce local community safety efforts near the scene, including support for a vehicle perimeter around the scene to ensure safe passage of residents while preventing entry of materials for barricades and fires.”

City requests MN National Guard to help with staffing after 3rd shooting by federal agents

Minnesota Guard personnel will be available to help local police and emergency personnel protect community safety around the area near 26th Street and Nicollet Ave., the location of a fatal shooting of a Minneapolis resident by federal agents Saturday morning – and at other posts as needed.

Minnesota Guard members will wear neon reflective vests to help distinguish them from other agencies in similar uniforms and will always remain in close contact and proximity to Minneapolis Police officers whom they are supporting.

To be clear, the Minnesota Guard deployment comes at the request of local officials. The federal government has no involvement in their activities. The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office has also announced it is requesting the Guard to activate to the B.H. Whipple Federal Building where it needs additional officers to help fill shifts.

To be clear, the Minnesota Guard deployment comes at the request of local officials. The federal government has no involvement in their activities. The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office has also announced it is requesting the Guard to activate to the B.H. Whipple Federal Building where it needs additional officers to help fill shifts.

They should probably help local PD arrest the ICE agents. There are a few murders now, and those that didn't pull the triggers should be held as accessories.

Yeah, a dangerous game. But innocent people are dying at the hands of federally-sanctioned thugs. That can't be tolerated.

Yeah, a dangerous game. But innocent people are dying at the hands of federally-sanctioned thugs. That can't be tolerated.

Pushing back against Federal officials is "insurrection". Speaking against Federal officials is "sedition". State and local officials go to prison. Martial law declared. God's Hand On Earth Trump wins.
