For all his brilliance, I find Munger’s investment record at Daily Journal very underwhelming. More than 80% in BAC and WFC, and the rest in BABA. Over the last decade, he has held only one other stock Korean steel maker Posco (which he liquidated in 2022).

Couldn’t Charlie find any stocks better than BAC and WFC? Even when Buffett sold off WFC, he didn’t. No Costco, even though he was on its BOD, heaped praise on it and faulted Buffett for not buying it.

Were capital gains tax considerations the reason for him not to switch investments away from mediocre mega banks? Or did he believe his portfolio was his best ideas?
