The New York Times editorial board, recently squarely under the thumb of the Trump administration, finally clearly states the obvious: Trump and his schophants are bald-faced liars. And that Congress must use its power to hold the administration accountable through its control of federal spending.
If the administration is allowed to act with impunity and avoid even the most basic accountability, more Americans will die.
The administration is urging Americans to reject the evidence of their eyes and ears. Ms. Noem and Mr. Bovino are lying in defiance of obvious truths. They are lying in the manner of authoritarian regimes that require people to accept lies as a demonstration of power.
Even worse is that all of this feels so terribly familiar. Earlier this month, a federal agent shot and killed another Minneapolis resident, Renee Good. In that case, too, the Trump administration has demonized the victim and has blocked a state investigation of the killing. You see it here (well, I only see some graylings quoted by others) as republicans lie to portray Renee Good and Alex Pretti as terrorists who got what they deserved rather than average Americans exercising their constitutional rights and looking out for their neighbors and their city.
The time is now to put a stop to these secret police that wear masks, that are unidentifiable, that are unaccountable, that have leadership in the Trump administration blatantly lying to allow them to murder Americans without accountability.

There is no constitutional right to disobey an LEO's order to stop and exit your vehicle.
There is no constitutional right to drive into or close enough to pose a danger to ANY pedestrian (much less an LEO who just instructed you to stop and exit the vehicle) in your several thousand pound SUV.
There is no constitutional right to bring a firearm and two extra ammo magazines to an ICE enforcement operation, interfere with said operation, and then get into a wrestling match with several ICE officers.
None of the above comments means that the shootings of Renee Good or Pretti Boi will turn out to have been legally "justified."
The above comments are offered to show how damn stupid the NY Times editorial board is.
They are so stupid they aren't even wrong.
They really have no idea what they are talking about, as to anything.

Same thing reported on the NBC evening news tonight: the incident being described by Noem and Bovino is so starkly different as what multiple video recordings show, you would think they are describing a different incident. Would the Trump regime try to gaslight us, again? Yes, I know asking the question is redundant.
The important thing is, does this mark a turning point, or will the gaslighting win out, again?

There is no constitutional right to ignore federal law. The unfortunate protesters broke at least two federal laws each before deadly force was employed. I am not saying the the shootings were justified, the investigations have not been completed. But it is not the case these two individuals were only chanting and waving signs as lawful protesters do.

bighairymike: There is no constitutional right to ignore federal law.
Which federal law is that? Pretti was recording on his phone, then helping a woman who an ICE or Border Patrol agent knocked to the ground. And as albaby1 explained, Good stopping her car in the street wouldn't have violated any law (and cars could easily drive around her -- she even tried to get the feds to drive around her).

Yeah, ya' kinda are.

the investigations have not been completed. That is what Bovino kept saying, but Noem didn't wait for any investigation. She was immediately out with a inflammatory narrative that is in stark contrast to the video recordings.
Trump administration redoubles immigration enforcement strategy as cracks emerge in the president’s coalition
Noem has been among the officials publicly blaming Pretti, even as her department is leading the investigation into the incident.
“He came to that scene and impeded a law enforcement operation, which is against federal law. It’s a felony. When he did that, interacting with those agents, when they tried to get him to disengage, he became aggressive and resisted them,” she said on Fox News’ “The Sunday Briefing.”
DHS officials expressed frustration and concern Sunday morning as they shared videos among themselves of the shooting, officials told CNN. Some felt that Noem was doing them a disservice and placing federal law enforcement at further risk of harming their reputations.
“The department needs a law enforcement leader, not a sycophant,” one Homeland Security official told CNN.https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/trump-administra...Steve

What federal laws were being ignored? Furthermore, even if federal laws were being ignored, that isn't worthy of death. Trump has broken many federal laws, is it justified to shoot him?
"The unfortunate protesters broke at least two federal laws each before deadly force was employed." - BHM
Which ones? Don't be a Fox moron and start with the interfering with a federal investigation. That charge would never hold up in court. One person stopping their car on a street is not interfering in a federal investigation. It may be inconvenient for the federal officers, but it isn't interfering with the investigation as that law has ever been understood in a court of law. Besides that is the whole point of peaceful protest. You make things inconvenient for those you are protesting against without breaking the law.
The Trump administration is trying to make peaceful protest equal to interference in an investigation. They know the unthinking cultists like you will lap it up.
"I am not saying the the shootings were justified" - BHM
Actually that is exactly what you have been doing over and over for the past week. You were trying to justify the indefensible.
"....the investigations have not been completed." - BHM
What investigations? The Trump administration is not even investigating the law enforcement officer who shot Good. Instead they are investigating Good's wife. Furthermore, they are blocking state and local officials from access to any information so state and locals could investigate. The reason the Trump administration has been able to get away with no investigations of the officer involved in the Good shooting is because so many people like you who would go out on a limb to justify it.
"But it is not the case these two individuals were only chanting and waving signs as lawful protesters do." - BHM
Right, Good was trying to leave the scene and the other guy was trying to help a woman up who had been pushed into a snow bank. Both of those were peaceful actions.
Why is peaceful protesting limited to chanting and holding signs.
Think for once. Stop being a useful idiot. Seriously, you are helping get Americans killed.
