back in the days of the Old Board , or Bored as we often referred to it, I cannot recall who,but their personal economic indicator was counting trucks on the freeway , it was quite remarkably prescient !
I dont drive as much, so I developed my own , more related to "spending power" as predictor. I have lived in the same neighborhood for many years , with a broad view down the valley. Lately I have noted that all the neighborhood homelights go off early, and even garden lighting , almost a dark sky event. This is in a reasonably mid to upper mid class area populated mostly by professionals and business owners....
I think retail spend is in trouble. in the heartland...
